EULAR MSUS Competency Assessment | Level 1

In 2015, EULAR launched the Competency Assessment in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSUS) in Rheumatology. 


The assessment is provided for two levels of competency: 

LEVEL 1: Minimum competency necessary to perform full rheumatologic MSUS examination without supervision, which will be achieved after passing the exam of the advanced EULAR US Course and receiving a EULAR Certificate. 

LEVEL 2: Competency necessary to teach MSUS, which will be achieved after passing the exam of the  EULAR Course for US Trainers (Teach-the-Teachers) and receiving a EULAR Certificate. 

How to qualify for Level 1?

  • Complete the EULAR Online Introductory Ultrasound Course and pass the exam
  • Attend the following three courses within maximum of 2 years in between each course: 

Basic EULAR MSUS or a basic EULAR scientifically endorsed MSUS course 
Intermediate EULAR MSUS course or an intermediate EULAR scientifically endorsed MSUS course.
Advanced EULAR MSUS course and passed the exam
  
Before attending the Intermediate EULAR MSUS Course 
At your institution, perform and document a minimum of 60 standardized complete MSUS examinations of each of the following  joint regions:  shoulder, elbow, wrist & hand, hip, knee, ankle & foot (10 MSUS examination of each region).
Pass the basic EULAR MSUS course or equivalent.


Before attending the Advanced EULAR MSUS Course
At your institution, perform and document a minimum of 200 MSUS examinations of each of the following joint regions: shoulder, elbow, wrist & hand, hip, knee, ankle & foot (a minimum of 20 MSUS examination for each region of different patients and encompassing the full range of conditions).
Pass a practical exam taking place during the advanced EULAR MSUS Course.
